Welcome to Brighton NightWriters

LATEST NEWS Brighton NightWriters is currently meeting normally, on Wednesdays. No special events are currently planned, but that could change...

There will be a news update later this month. Meanwhile, we are all busy writing, thinking about writing, or planning some writing...

Other news from Tim Shelton-Jones
We held our AGM last Wednesday 10th December. The newly-elected officers are much as before, except that Rob Paraman was elected Deputy Convenor (this is in addition to others who are very willing and able to take on the chair at our Wednesday meetings, so I'm looking forward to seeing others do more of the hard work!). We also discussed ideas for further events, eg. a talk - we will return to this in committee and let everyone know what transpires.

This was followed by our usual Xmas fest of food (better that last year's, and thanks for your home-made contribution Liz, I just finished off the last of that yesterday, wonderful!), plus readings from favourite books/poems.authors.

Saturday 6th saw our third Shorelines Event, this time at the Jubilee library - more wonderful readings (plus free wine), thanks to everyone who came. A shame not many members of the public turned up - though one who left early said how much he'd enjoyed it and said he'd be joining the group (we'll see .... but at least he took the trouble to say that). Also, some of us thought the room itself was a bit too 'conference room'-like, and expressed a preference for a good old pub room (ie. as at the Nelson). Feel free to join in the debate !

Meetings

We are a friendly creative writing group that meets on Wednesday evenings in Central Brighton. We read out our poems or stories and everyone gets a chance to comment.

Publications

The group has produced four anthologies of work by members - three mixed (prose and poetry) and one poetry only.

We also produce an irregular newsletter, often publicising events staged or hosted by the group, as well as including examples of members' writing.

The Work

All sorts of people come along to NightWriters and they bring a wide variety of work with them - stories, poems, pages from novels either completed or under construction.
